Chinese Evergreen 'Silver Bay' Houseplant Details

The Chinese Evergreen 'Silver Bay' (Aglaonema commutatum) is a hardy, air-purifying houseplant known for its lush, silver-variegated leaves. It thrives in bright, indirect light and well-draining potting soil. Water it when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry, allowing it to dry out almost completely in winter.

How to Care for Chinese Evergreen 'Silver Bay' Houseplant

Light: Prefers bright to medium indirect light but will tolerate low-light spaces. Direct sunlight will burn the leaves.

Water: Water approximately every 10–14 days in the summer, and less frequently (every 3–4 weeks) in the winter. Always allow excess water to drain to avoid root rot.

Soil & Fertilizer: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix (e.g., potting soil mixed with perlite and orchid bark). Fertilize sparingly every 1–2 months during the spring and summer.

Environment: Thrives in standard household temperatures (60°F to 80°F) and average humidity. Keep away from cold drafts or heating vents.

Toxicity: Note that Chinese Evergreens are moderately toxic if ingested, so keep them out of reach of pets and small children.
